Behind the Numbers: (Federal Freeway Administration and CNN)
In accordance with the Federal Freeway Administration, 26.2% of 16-year-olds and 60.4% of 18-year-olds had a driver’s license in 2024. Teenagers have been getting their licenses later for years. Analysis led by Dr. Federico Vaca discovered that almost 40% of teenagers delayed getting their license by one to 2 years and 30% delayed by greater than two years, and the share of highschool seniors with a license fell from 81% in 2006 to 72% in 2015.
