The choice, handed down September 8, 2025, by the First Circuit Courtroom of Appeals, facilities on Federated Mutual Insurance coverage Firm and Peterson’s Oil Service, Inc., a Massachusetts-based heating oil provider. Peterson’s was sued in a Massachusetts state class motion after prospects alleged the corporate offered heating oil with an excessive amount of biodiesel, damaging their heating programs. The complaints alleged that, beginning in 2012, Peterson’s added biodiesel to residence heating oil in proportions exceeding trade requirements and that this harmed buyer gear. Peterson’s obtained a requirement letter and criticism in March 2019.
